Announcing the Merridale Wellness Line

A New Collab between Merridale and Shea Butter Market

Made with all-natural, organic ingredients that are good for your body, the Merridale Wellness Line is also good for the world.

Merridale is proud to announce the launch of a new line of products in collaboration with Shea Butter Market, a local artisanal producer in Cowichan Valley.

Committed to creating outstanding products while using business as a vehicle for good in the world, Gifty Serbeh-Dunn, founder of Shea Butter Market and Merridale co-owner Janet Docherty have similar values and beliefs about what it means to be industry leaders.

The empowerment of women through business is something that has always been near and dear to owner Janet Docherty’s heart. “We’ve chosen to work with Gifty because of her connections and dedication to working with women in Ghana. She supports these women, giving them income and imports their shea butter to Canada.”

“By enhancing the products with the scents of Merridale, we are able to offer our visitors an outstanding line of wellness products. But it’s not only that, it’s an opportunity to live in alignment with our values and support other women in business. Everything that Gifty is doing, running her business in a way that honours the earth, the community and creating outstanding products, these are the same values that we honour in the way we do business at Merridale,” said Janet.

With a focus on the triple bottom line: business that is good for the consumer, the environment and the producers, the Merridale Wellness Line is filled with products that you can feel good about using. Created with social and environmental integrity, responsibility and ingenuity these products are crafted with love at each step of the journey. Pure shea butter softens, moisturizes and heals skin and ancient African wisdom knew that shea butter kept skin healthy and young.

The new arrivals include: sun saver, shampoo bars, face and body mist, bug spray, lavender hand cream and specialty soap made with Merridale cider. Boasting a host of antioxidants, you’ll want to get your hands (and face) on these products!

When you purchase anything from the Merridale Wellness line, your dollars are directly supporting a social enterprise that benefits everyone; the Tapko Widows group who make the shea butter in Ghana, the preservation of the biosphere where the Shea Tree grows and women who are dedicated to using business as a tool for empowerment. Win-Win-win!
